Call for Abstracts - CLOSED

The Organising Committee invites abstract submissions for presentations at the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM) 47th Annual Scientific Meeting 2017. Submissions from all disciplines of Nuclear Medicine are invited for poster and oral presentations.

The Committee will integrate sets of individual oral papers into thematic sessions. Length of presentations will be determined once all submissions have been reviewed.

Key Dates

Friday 20 January 2017 - Abstract submission closed
Deadline for abstract submission at 5:00pm ACST (Australian Central Standard Time). To meet publication timelines for the Internal Medicine Journal there will be no extensions.

From Monday 27 February 2017
Authors will be notified by email of the result of their abstract submission.

Monday 13 March 2017
Presenter registration deadline.

How to Submit an Abstract

To be selected to present you are required to submit an abstract via the website. All abstracts must be submitted electronically.

Important Information

Abstracts will be blind reviewed. Please do not list authors and affiliations in your abstract. Add author names and affiliations as part of the online submission form.

Creating an author account and uploading an abstract

Prepare your abstract according to the submission guidelines and click the Submit Abstract button below.

  1. Create an author account* with EasyAbstracts
  2. Complete the online submission form
  3. Upload your abstract

*If you submitted content to ANZSNM 2015 (Brisbane) you will have an author account linked to your 2015 email address.

You will be requested to complete an online form and upload your abstract suitable for blind review as a MS Word .doc or .docx file.

EasyAbstracts will automatically append an ID number to your file name for identification.

Please note that it is NOT necessary to add a membership number to the submission form if applying for an Award, as ANZSNM no longer issues membership numbers.

How will I know that I have successfully uploaded my abstract?

Submitting an abstract involves two steps. Completion of the submission form and the upload of the abstract. Advice that your submission and file upload have been successful, will appear on your screen as "Your submission was saved successfully" and "The file was successfully uploaded". You will also receive a confirmation email.

General Guidelines for Submissions

Abstracts will only be accepted by submitting through the online process. The abstract content must be uploaded into the system in a Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format.

Abstracts must not exceed 300 words.

Formatting

Important Information

Abstracts will be blind reviewed. Please do not list authors and affiliations in your abstract. Add author names and affiliations as part of the online submission form.

  • Paper Title: Sentence case, Arial, font size 12 Bold
  • Descriptive text: Sentence case, Arial font size 10. Single spacing (1.0) * Note that characters and symbols must be inserted into the document using the INSERT SYMBOL function, not by changing the font, and please do not use document styles
  • The abstract, with subheadings, should be in the following form: Background, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusion
  • Do NOT include references
  • Overall word count, excluding the scientific title, authors and affiliations must not exceed 300 words. Abstracts that exceed this limit risk not being considered for award categories or oral presentation, and may be returned for rewriting
  • Abbreviations: full text on first mention followed by the abbreviation of first parenthesis. Please do not submit abstracts where the material has been published in full prior to the abstract deadline
  • May contain up to one diagram, table or graphic
  • Tables: Tables can be included with abstracts and must be cited in the abstract text. The abstracts themselves must be in text, not table format
  • Figures: All figures should be cited in the text of the abstract.

 

Adding authors and affiliations into the online submission form

  • Authors - online submission form only: Authors’ names should be supplied in the given names (provide only the first initial), surname-last format. e.g. A Smith, B Jones
  • Affiliation - online submission form only: Institutional affiliations should be indicated with numbers following the author name. All affiliations should contain institution, city and country and be in sentence case.

Awards

Five awards are on offer for the 2017 meeting - GMS Poster Award, Gammasonics Abstracts Award, Mallinckrodt Award, Shimadzu Award and AANMS Registrar Research Award. You must be a financial member of ANZSNM to be considered for all awards except the AANMS Registrar Research Award.

Please note that it is NOT necessary to add a membership number to the submission form if applying for an Award, as ANZSNM no longer issues membership numbers.

Summary

  • It is expected all authors will receive notification of outcome of their submission from Monday 27 February 2017.
  • All presenting authors must register and pay for the ASM by Monday 13 March 2017 otherwise the paper will be removed from the program
  • The committee reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts for inclusion in the program
  • Abstracts received after the closing date will not be accepted
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the submitting/presenting author
  • The Organising Committee and Conference Organisers will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the abstract is submitted correctly
  • An abstract which does not adhere to these specifications will not be accepted.

As submitting author and authorised representative of this abstract submission you certify that you understand and agree to terms and conditions as stated by indicating your acceptance when prompted during the online abstract submission process. You will not be able to submit the abstract unless you agree to all terms and conditions for ANZSNM 2017 ASM below.

Copyright Conditions

COPYRIGHT©2017 by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine ANZSNM, Ltd. ANZSNM reserves all rights to accepted abstracts between the date of acceptance and the date of presentation at the 2017 ANZSNM Annual Meeting (embargo rights). Under this reservation of rights ANZSNM will manage various publications of abstracts including, but not limited to, journals, CDs, Internet publications, and PR and promotional materials for the 2017 ANZSNM Annual Scientific Meeting. Once an abstract has been presented, abstract copyrights revert to authors; however, ANZSNM holds the continuing right to use accepted abstracts (and included tables and images) in ANZSNM publications, abstract CDs, press releases and reprints.

Double Submission

The abstract, or one that is essentially the same (“duplicate”), has not been submitted more than once to the ANZSNM 2017. The submitting author understands that if duplicate abstracts are determined by the Scientific Committee, the abstract(s) will be removed from the program.

Publication

Abstracts presented at the 47th ANZSNM ASM will be publishd as a supplement to Internal Medicine Journal.
